The story

Hestia Paris – Modern Cuisine in a Michelin-Recommended Latin Quarter Restaurant

A Sanctuary of Modern French Cuisine in the Latin Quarter

At 8 rue de la Huchette, a few steps from Notre-Dame, Hestia occupies a space that feels both intimate and grand. The name comes from the Greek goddess of the hearth, and the restaurant lives up to it: this is a place where the warmth of the dining room matches the precision of the kitchen. The interior is understated, with a focus on comfort and conversation, while an outdoor terrace offers a front-row seat to the lively Latin Quarter.

Chef Loïc Dantec leads the kitchen. Trained in Normandy, he refined his craft at some of Paris’s most celebrated addresses – the Espadon at the Ritz, Epicure, and Le 114 du Bristol. At Hestia, he brings that pedigree to a modern cuisine that is both confident and approachable. The menu changes with the seasons, built around daily deliveries of fresh produce and a deep respect for artisan suppliers.

The Menu: Tradition and Invention

Dantec’s cooking is rooted in French technique but open to global accents. Starters like sea bream tartare with tandoori spices and crunchy fennel sit alongside Breton lobster ravioli with a Cajun-spiced lobster head emulsion. Main courses range from Black Angus beef chuck with a fresh pepper sauce and potato mousseline to fillet of John Dory with beurre blanc, baby sorrel, and Vadouvan-spiced artichokes. Desserts are equally thoughtful: a cocoa choux pastry with toasted buckwheat ice cream, or a Gariguette strawberry number with creamy rice pudding and basil sorbet.

The wine program is a destination in itself. The cellar is deep, with an exceptional selection of Champagnes (from grower-producers like Chartogne-Taillet and Jacques Lassaigne) and a well-curated list of French whites and reds, many from Loire, Burgundy, and Rhône. Sommelier guidance is available for pairings.

A Michelin-Recommended Address

Hestia earned a Michelin Recommended distinction in 2026, a recognition that aligns with the restaurant’s ambition: to deliver a genuinely excellent experience without pretension. The service is attentive, the pace unhurried, and the food speaks for itself. Whether you come for a full tasting or a single plate at the bar, the sense of hospitality – that “hearth” feeling – is consistent.

For those seeking modern French cuisine in Paris with a real sense of place, Hestia delivers. It is a restaurant that honours its influences, respects its ingredients, and makes you feel welcome from the moment you walk in.
