The story
On a discreet street near the Louvre and the Palais Royal, Kei Kobayashi’s restaurant has earned its place among the world’s finest. Awarded three Michelin stars, Kei is a destination for those who seek cooking that is both deeply personal and utterly refined.
The setting itself speaks of quiet luxury. Wood, glass and marble come together in a space that the restaurant describes as reminiscent of Parisian haute couture houses or jewelry boutiques. It is an atmosphere of calm precision, where every detail matters.
Chef Kobayashi’s modern cuisine is expressed through a series of tasting menus that evolve with the seasons. Guests can choose from the Discovery Menu (available at lunch on Fridays and Saturdays), the Tasting Menu, or the more extensive Prestige, Horizon and Grand Horizon menus. Each is a journey through textures and flavours that balance Japanese sensitivity with French technique.
The restaurant’s own words capture its philosophy: “Ce n'est pas la lumière qui manque à notre regard, c'est notre regard qui manque de lumière.” It is a reminder that the true art lies in how we see – and Chef Kobayashi’s cooking invites a new way of looking at ingredients, at balance, at taste.
Kei is open for dinner from Tuesday to Saturday, with lunch service on Fridays and Saturdays. The dress code is casual chic, and valet parking is available for dinner. Reservations open on the first Tuesday of each month at 9:30 AM, two months in advance.
A meal here is not just a dinner; it is an experience of harmony, sensitivity and understated elegance – the very qualities that have earned it three Michelin stars and a place among Paris’s most celebrated tables.
