L'Andouille: A Taste of Brittany in Puteaux

Just a short walk from the heart of Puteaux, L'Andouille is a traditional French bistro where the spirit of Brittany meets the warmth of a local neighborhood spot. Chef Jean-Pierre Vasseur, a Puteaux native who spent a decade cooking in the United States, returned to France to hone his craft in celebrated Paris kitchens. After earning two Bib Gourmands from the Michelin Guide—first at Casimir and later at Michel—he opened his own place in June 2020. The restaurant now holds a Michelin Recommended distinction, a nod to the consistent, honest cooking that defines his style.

The menu is a daily-changing, handwritten slate of eight to ten starters, mains, and desserts. The cooking is rooted in seasonality and market produce, with a clear Breton accent. Signature dishes include the namesake Andouille de Guémené Sur Scorff served with a smooth mashed potato, a brandade de haddock gratinée with parmesan, and a poached veal kidney with sautéed mushrooms. Desserts are equally regional, with a standout Kouign Amann aux pommes and a Paris-Brest from the recipe of Thierry Breton, a mentor from Vasseur’s early days.

The atmosphere is convivial and unpretentious. A terrace opens onto a pedestrian street for warmer months, and the interior features round tables and banquettes. The restaurant is a member of the Bistrots Beaujolais association, and the wine list highlights the region’s crus. Lunch offers a market menu at €28 for three courses, while the evening carte runs €36 for two courses or €42 for three. The kitchen is closed on Mondays, but open Tuesday through Sunday for lunch and dinner.
