The story

L'Ardoise | Chef Pierre Jay's Market Cuisine in Paris 1st Arrondissement

L'Ardoise

Between the Place Vendôme and the Tuileries Garden, Chef Pierre Jay welcomes guests to L’Ardoise, a restaurant built on the principle of honest, market-driven cooking. The kitchen works with local producers, letting the seasons dictate the menu. Dishes change regularly, but the style remains constant: straightforward, flavourful French food made from carefully sourced ingredients.

The menu offers a choice of starters, mains and desserts, with a three-course option at €49. Starters range from duck foie gras cooked in a torchon with brioche and fig jam, to ceviche of octopus, prawn and sea bream in coconut milk with mango and ginger. Mains include farm chicken with pleurotes and white asparagus, roasted pork chop with thyme and potato purée, and a fillet of rascasse with beurre blanc and a crisp courgette and comté galette. Desserts are classic: vanilla crème brûlée, chocolate mousse, lime tart with meringue, and a hazelnut praline tiramisu.

The wine list is carefully curated, with every producer farming organically or in conversion to organic. It is designed to match both the food and the mood of the meal.

L’Ardoise has earned a place in the Michelin guide, recognised for its consistent quality and the integrity of its cooking. It is open Tuesday to Saturday for lunch and dinner.
