The story
Le Mazenay takes its name from a small village in Burgundy, not far from the birthplace of chef Denis Groison. Together with his wife Lan, he runs this restaurant in the lively Le Marais district of Paris, where the couple applies decades of experience to create a dining experience built on seasonality, quality, and conviviality.
The kitchen follows a simple but exacting philosophy: French cuisine dictated by the return from the market. Every week, Denis Groison visits the Rungis wholesale market to select the finest seasonal produce, preferring organic or sustainably grown fruits and vegetables, along with farmhouse cheeses. The menu changes regularly, reflecting what is at its peak. A lunch formula offers a choice of two or three courses at a reasonable price, while the evening carte evolves with the seasons.
This dedication to fresh, local ingredients has not gone unnoticed. The Michelin Guide lists Le Mazenay as Recommended, a recognition of its consistent quality and respect for the product.
Lan Groison oversees the wine list with the same rigor. Rather than relying solely on certifications, she seeks out bottles based on the philosophy and work of the vintner. The result is a selection that pairs beautifully with the seasonal menu, featuring both established names and discoveries from tastings.
The restaurant’s atmosphere is friendly and unpretentious. "L’amour, la gourmandise, la convivialité, le respect des produits" – love, enjoyment, conviviality, respect for the ingredients – are the pillars of the Groisons' work.
