The story
Le Petit Lucas is the name given to the more intimate dining experience within the legendary Maison Lucas Carton, a Parisian institution since 1839. The restaurant occupies the same ground-floor space that has welcomed guests for nearly two centuries, its walls lined with the sculpted Art Nouveau woodwork of Majorelle – a classified historic monument. The dining room, with its organic curves and hushed luxury, faces the Place de la Madeleine, offering a timeless backdrop for a meal.
The kitchen is led by Chef Hugo Bourny, who took the reins of this storied house after training with Arnaud Donckele, Anne-Sophie Pic, and Hélène Darroze. His cooking is described as delicate and vegetable-forward, balancing tradition with a modern, intuitive touch. Bourny draws on his roots in La Rochelle and his travels, creating dishes that feel both grounded and surprising – such as green asparagus marinated in Chartreuse with spruce shoot ice cream, or leek from local growers with daurade caviar and nasturtium.
Le Petit Lucas offers a choice of set lunch and dinner menus, composed with the chef and his team according to the season. The approach is one of refined French gastronomy, served in a setting that whispers history without fuss. The restaurant’s consistent quality has earned it a Michelin Recommended distinction, a nod to both the kitchen’s precision and the singular atmosphere of the room. It is a place where the past and present meet, quietly and elegantly.
