The story

LiLi Paris – Cantonese Chinese Cuisine, Michelin Recommended

At the Peninsula Paris, LiLi is a Cantonese restaurant that plays with contrasts: a mysterious, mischievous Chinese singer who is a great traveler, proud of her roots yet curious. That playful spirit animates the dining room, where the decor dares a singular bridge between France and Asia. Haussmannian grandeur meets artisan touches from both cultures, with notable artworks punctuating the space. It feels like an immersive experience, a tribute to the hotel’s history.

Behind the stove, Chef Tak Lau Yuen, master of Cantonese traditions, works closely with Executive Chef David Bizet. Together they compose a unique score—ancestral gestures blended with contemporary inspirations. This makes LiLi more than just a Chinese restaurant: it is a genuine passage between two visions of gastronomy.

The Setting and Atmosphere

The restaurant occupies the ground floor and is wheelchair accessible. The dining room is elegant, with high ceilings and a subtle interior that impresses VIP guests. Two private rooms are available for those seeking intimacy. On Saturday, the brunch transforms the space into a festive celebration of Cantonese flavors, complete with live duck carving, dim sum service, a tea bar, and sweet treats. Evenings at LiLi take on a different energy: Chinese artists perform on the guzheng (a traditional harp), playing both classical pieces and French chanson, creating a captivating mood late into the night.

What to Eat

The kitchen’s hallmark dishes include celebrated Dim Sum and Peking duck prepared according to tradition. But there are also creations that allow a happy encounter between Cantonese techniques and French refinement. The lunch menu (Tuesday to Friday, served in 60 minutes) offers a three-course selection of appetizers, dim sum, mains, or desserts for €68. A tasting menu is available for €138 (wine pairing an additional €98). On Saturdays, the brunch at €138 (€69 for children 12 and under) includes all drinks except alcohol. For those who want to take the experience home, three signature sauces—XO, black bean, and the Chef's sauce—are sold at the restaurant.

LiLi has earned a Michelin Recommended distinction, a fitting recognition for this Cantonese Chinese address that brings together the best of two culinary worlds. Whether for a formal dinner or a lively brunch, it offers a memorable taste of China in the heart of Paris.
