The story

Our House Paris: A Compact Japanese Counter Experience

The founders and the kitchen

Our House Paris brings Japanese cooking to Rue Coquillière, positioned directly beside the Dreamin’ Man roastery. Coffee specialists Yui Matsuzaki and Yuichiro Sugiyama converted the adjacent footprint into a focused culinary space led by chef Maki Fujii. She previously developed menus at Mr. T and Towa before designing this streamlined operation. Her training ensures every component arrives with deliberate precision.

The counter and the room

Pale timber frames a U-shaped bar that comfortably accommodates ten guests. Large windows flood the kit-like structure with natural light, creating a calm space for regular visits. Diners sit shoulder to shoulder across a narrow workspace where personal chopsticks rest in designated slots. The arrangement encourages a relaxed pace alongside direct views of the kitchen.

Teishoku and seasonal focus

Lunch service centers on traditional teishoku arrangements plated across multiple ceramic vessels. Chef Fujii layers rice, simmered vegetables, and grilled proteins onto heavy trays before carrying them out. This approach honors Japanese tradition without chasing theatrical presentation. Le Fooding recognized the consistent execution when they added the venue to their 2026 listing.

All kawaii things come in small packages, right? Well-versed in pocket-sized spaces, the Japanese coffee duo Yui Matsuzaki and Yuichiro Sugiyama (Dreamin’ Man) have opened a new little home right next to their Roastery . With its pale wood and gorgeous windowed front, this kit-like cabin didn’t stay a secret for long. Inside, a U-shaped counter for ten pairs of chopsticks, no more, where a traditional teishoku lands every lunchtime: a tray piled high with an assortment of porcelain bowls and plates, prepared precisely by chef Maki Fujii (ex-Mr. T and Towa). A place to refuel, shoulder to shoulder, in a kitchen as compact as it is generous. · Harry Gobeur
