The story
In the 9th arrondissement, on rue Blanche, Perception is the first restaurant from chef Sukwon Yong and manager Barnabé Lahaye. The duo have joined forces to convey a new vision of cuisine, where French gastronomy is taken on a journey to Korea, the chef's native land. The result is a showcase restaurant in a hushed, modern space, with a stone wall and open kitchen at the back—a setting that feels both warm and precise.
Perception’s menu is a clear expression of this modern cuisine. The lunch carte features dishes like Seared Mackerel with ginger and kim seaweed vinaigrette, and a Perfect Organic Egg with creamy wild garlic and black sesame sauce. For mains, a Limousin beef tenderloin comes with black garlic sauce and Korean meat jus, while the grilled cuttlefish is served with a gochujang and squid ink jus. Desserts range from a classic Tarte Tatin to a chocolate mousse with fleur de sel and Kalios olive oil. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available, and a five-course carte blanche menu is offered for those wanting the full experience.
This thoughtful approach has earned Perception a Michelin Recommended distinction, placing it among the notable tables in Paris. It’s a restaurant that delivers on its promise of vibrant, exotic flavors in the heart of the city.
