The story
Since 2020, Anne-Cécile Faye has brought new energy to this historic address on Avenue Rapp. The restaurant traces its roots to the post-war years when Alphonse Mellot, a renowned Sancerre winemaker, opened a wine bar in Paris. Today, as Sancerre Rive Gauche, it remains a neighbourhood institution, now with a renewed focus on bistronomie — refined bistro cooking that honours terroir and seasonality.
Anne-Cécile Faye trained at the Glion hotel school in Switzerland, then worked at the Shangri-La in Hong Kong and with three-star chef Yannick Alléno in Paris, followed by stints at the W Hotel and Ladurée. Her experience translates into a restaurant that feels both polished and genuinely welcoming. She describes her dream as “a welcoming, generous, refined table that stays convivial.” Regulars appreciate the seasonal cuisine, prepared with excellent produce, and the warm atmosphere where everyone feels at home.
The menu is led by Chef Éric Lecerf, whose cooking reflects the best of modern French cuisine. Dishes change with the seasons, built around direct relationships with producers and vintners — a privilege Anne-Cécile enjoys from her close ties to the wine world. The setting offers multiple moods: traditional bistro tables, a lounge area with deep armchairs, a counter for a more casual meal, and a terrace that spills onto the wide pavement of Avenue Rapp when the weather turns fine.
The restaurant’s quality has been recognised with a Michelin Recommended distinction, a mark of its consistent execution and sincere hospitality. Whether you come for a long lunch or a relaxed dinner, Sancerre Rive Gauche delivers a genuinely Parisian experience — rooted in the local, executed with care, and served without pretence.
