Thiou – Thai Cuisine in the Heart of Paris

Chef Apiradee Thirakomen, known simply as Thiou, has been a fixture on the Parisian dining scene for decades. After making her name at the legendary Bains Douches and later opening her own restaurant in 2000, she has now brought her celebrated Thai cuisine to the Hôtel Norman on rue Balzac. The restaurant, which has earned a Michelin Recommended distinction, carries the same festive soul that has made Thiou a beloved address among Paris gourmands.

The Menu

Thiou’s menu is built around the classics of Thai cuisine, prepared with the finest French products and adapted to the seasons. The semi-gastronomic carte features signature dishes that have become must-orders: langoustine nems, Tigre qui Pleure, and shrimp ravioli. There are also surprises, such as a choucroute whose cabbage is cooked in the Thai style—a playful fusion that reflects Thiou’s confident, personal approach to her craft.

The Atmosphere

Set within the stylish Hôtel Norman, the restaurant offers a warm yet refined setting. The energy is lively, the service attentive, and the spirit unmistakably Thiou: generous, precise, and deeply rooted in the traditions of Thai gastronomy. Whether for a weekday lunch or an evening dinner, the experience is one of genuine hospitality and bold, clear flavors.
