A restaurant born from a chapel

Les Archives occupies a former Jesuit chapel, built in 1852 and later used for half a century as the Departmental Archives of Vienne. In 2010, the building began a two-year transformation into a hotel and restaurant, opening in 2012. The result is a dining room set beneath the original vaulted ceiling, where stone walls and stained glass meet contemporary design. It is a setting that feels both grand and intimate.

Modern cuisine with a sense of place

The kitchen here works in the language of modern cuisine. Each dish is built around carefully sourced ingredients, many from local producers or responsible supply chains. The chefs take classic recipes and revisit them with creativity and precision, aiming for balanced compositions that let the produce speak. The menu changes with the seasons, and a weekday lunch formula offers a more accessible way to experience the style.

The restaurant’s commitment to quality and atmosphere has been recognised by the Michelin Guide, which awards it a Recommended mention – a nod to the consistency of the cooking and the singular environment.

A bar and a welcome for all

Beyond the dining room, Les Archives also operates a bar, making it a place for a drink as well as a full meal. The space is wheelchair accessible, and vegetarian options are available. Open daily for lunch and dinner, it has become a fixture in Poitiers for both locals and visitors drawn to its story and its plates.
