The story
At 40 Rue Carnot in the heart of Poitiers, Papilles is the project of chef Sébastien Boireau. The dining room is warm and uncluttered, a setting that lets the food speak. Here, the menu is not a list of choices but an invitation to surrender. The kitchen follows the seasons, working with local produce to create spontaneous, creative dishes. This approach, rooted in modern cuisine, has earned the restaurant a Michelin recommendation.
Papilles offers a blind culinary experience. You choose only the length of the journey: three courses (€55), five courses (€68), or six courses (€78). The exact dishes are a surprise, determined by the day's arrivals and the chef's inspiration. The team asks that you trust them; the result is a sequence of plates that reveal finesse, balance, and boldness. A selection of nature-friendly wines, curated by Virginie, can be paired in two or three glasses.
The restaurant is wheelchair accessible and family-friendly, even welcoming pets. A children's menu is available for those under twelve. The six-course option, described as "for those who want to taste everything, feel everything," includes a progression through vegetable, organic, and iodized notes, from crunchy to sweet. Cheese lovers can add a platter selected by Jeremie Chosson. In a city like Poitiers, Papilles stands out for its quiet confidence and its commitment to a truly personal modern cuisine experience.
