The story
Chef Alan Geaam established Qasti Bistrot in Lausanne as his first venture in Switzerland, naming the space after the Arabic word for "my story." He draws directly from childhood flavors to present authentic Lebanese cooking that emphasizes generosity and warmth. The menu invites diners to share plates, reflecting the communal spirit of Levantine traditions rather than isolated courses.
The kitchen builds its reputation around hot and cold mezze designed for the table. Falafels arrive crisp and rich, while the lamb sausages known as makanekh offer a savory contrast alongside charred cauliflower drizzled with tarator. Guests can navigate the full range of Levantine classics through a lunch buffet for twenty-seven francs or opt for a tasting menu pairing three cold mezze, three hot mezze, a main course, and a dessert. Signature items like moussaka baked with halloumi and pistachio pesto showcase precise technique.
The dining room encourages pairing meals with selections of Lebanese red wine suggested by the staff. Desserts conclude the experience with confections such as mafrouké filled with almond and pistachio cream, or mouhallabié flavored with orange blossom syrup. Osmalié rounds out the pastry selection with layered phyllo dough soaked in sugar syrup.
