The story
In the small town of Renescure, La Table de Romain offers a straightforward, welcoming take on French cuisine. The restaurant’s own description sums up its philosophy: “Cuisine Maison et produits frais, dans un cadre convivial” – homemade cooking with fresh ingredients, served in a friendly atmosphere. This commitment to quality has earned it a place among Michelin’s Recommended restaurants for 2026, a mark of consistent, well-executed cooking that draws diners to this corner of northern France.
The menu changes regularly, reflecting the seasons and the availability of fresh produce. During the week, a lunch formula is available from Tuesday to Friday, offering a choice of starter and main, or main and dessert for 24 €, or a full three-course meal for 28 €. On weekends, the menu expands, with a three-course option at 39 €. A Friday evening special features a steak frites formula, a classic done well. The restaurant also offers takeaway, and gift cards (Cartes KDO) can be purchased on site.
The setting is unpretentious and comfortable. Photographs on the restaurant’s blog show a neat facade, a pleasant terrace, and a warmly decorated interior. The dining room, overseen by Corinne, has a personal, homey touch. Outside, the view takes in the nearby Château de Zuthove and the village church, grounding the meal in the local landscape. La Table de Romain is open for lunch Tuesday through Friday, for dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings, and for Sunday lunch. Reservations are taken by phone only.
