The story
At Lou Pinatou, Charlotte and Alexandre Roy have built a restaurant where the kitchen is an extension of the land. Their 161-year-old auberge, perched at over 800 metres in Solignac-sous-Roche, looks out over the Loire Valley and the Mézenc massif. The dining room, renovated in 2019, is deliberately spare – no music, only wildflowers on local ash tables – so that every guest focuses entirely on the plates and wines before them.
The couple’s inspiration comes from the large kitchen garden at the village entrance, alongside their orchard, beehives, and vines. This garden is the backbone of the restaurant, shaping a Modern Cuisine that changes with the seasons. Their menu Gerbizon, named for the mountain opposite the auberge, is a journey through their world and story. The menu Madeleine, for a quicker but still gastronomic lunch, evolves with the garden’s harvest. Every dish reflects a sincere, living cuisine with clean flavours.
Charlotte took over the family business in 2013, and the pair have built steadily since. In 2018, the Guide Michelin awarded them a Bib Gourmand, a recognition that continues to mark their commitment to quality and value. Their approach is one of patience: each morning, they draw from the garden and the surrounding nature. The result is an experience that feels both rooted and refined, where the landscape and the plate are in harmony.
