The story
In the small village of Neuillé-le-Lierre, just outside Reugny, Romain and Nadège Thévenon have revived a former village inn. They call it Liberté, and the name captures both the freedom of their cooking and the unhurried atmosphere they’ve created.
Chef Romain Thévenon works with a short, evolving menu that follows the seasons and the inter-seasons. His cooking is anchored in the products of the Touraine region – fresh, local, and often foraged. The restaurant’s own words describe it as “a cuisine of season, local and wild,” built on respect for biodiversity and the environment. Every dish is made from scratch, and the menu changes as nature dictates.
Liberté’s approach – combining modern cuisine with a strong ecological conscience – earned it a Michelin Recommendation in 2026. The guide’s nod acknowledges the precision and sincerity of Romain’s cooking, as well as the attentive service that Nadège brings to the dining room.
The dining room, housed in the old stone building, is simple and welcoming. There’s outdoor seating for warmer days, and the restaurant is wheelchair accessible. Liberté is open for lunch and dinner Monday through Sunday, closed Tuesdays and Wednesday lunch. Parking is available on site.
A meal here is a discovery of the Tourangeau terroir, interpreted with modern technique and a light touch. The short carte lets the ingredients speak – vegetables, herbs, and meats from nearby farms, prepared with restraint and clarity. It’s the kind of place where you trust the chef and let the seasons guide your plate.
