The story
Since March 2012, Franck and Stéphanie Sinquin have been at the helm of L'Eau d'Oust in Rohan, a small town along the Nantes–Brest canal. The setting is straightforward: cross the river and circle the lake to find the restaurant, its terrace overlooking the water – a natural pause for walkers and cyclists exploring the towpaths.
The cooking is unapologetically homemade, built around local ingredients. There is no pretense here: the menu changes with the seasons and what the surrounding farms and markets offer. The kitchen focuses on honest, well-executed dishes that reflect the landlocked character of central Brittany.
In 2026, L'Eau d'Oust received a Michelin Recommended distinction – a nod to its consistent quality and the warmth of its welcome. The award fits the restaurant's philosophy: nothing flashy, just precise cooking and a genuine sense of place. Diners come for the calm, the view, and plates that taste like the region.
The dining room is modest, with table service that is attentive without fuss. Outdoor seating is available when the weather cooperates, making the most of the lakeside location. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible and opens for dinner by reservation only – a detail that reflects the Sinquins' desire to keep the experience personal.
Whether you are passing through on a cycling trip or seeking a destination meal in Brittany, L'Eau d'Oust offers a sincere, locally rooted meal that earns its place on the Michelin guide.
