The story
Perched in the tiny Loire village of Montarcher, Le Clos Perché is the work of Sylviane Fourets and Julien Magne, two chefs who describe themselves as “passionnés de la cuisine française,” always seeking new perfumes and flavours. The restaurant sits in the old stone village square, with four guest rooms upstairs for those who wish to linger.
The restaurant’s seasonal menus change each month, with new dishes appearing on the first Thursday. The cooking is precise and playful, often built around surprising combinations. An August menu might begin with a duo of sardines “surfing” on a salad of peppers and tomatoes, refreshed by a Bloody Mary sorbet, or a marinated pork fillet spiced with sweet spices, set around watermelon and a tomato-water granité. Main courses show the same imagination: a fillet of cod under a sea-urchin cloud “débaroule” over peas with a liquorice-and-lemon risotto; a duck breast with creamy polenta, baby artichokes, and a blueberry jus.
Desserts continue the poetic thread – a croustillant hiding chocolate, meadowsweet, and apricots; a peach balancing on a meringue, courting lemon balm.
This confident, personal cuisine earned Le Clos Perché a Michelin Recommendation for 2026. It’s a place where the seasons dictate the plate, and the plates tell a story.
