The story
Since June 2018, La Table du Marensin has occupied a carefully restored building that once housed the engineer of the forge at Domaine d’Uza. Set beside a lake in the Landes region, the restaurant offers 30 seats indoors and an equal number on a terrace that overlooks the water. The atmosphere is warm and convivial, with thoughtful décor that respects the site’s industrial past.
The kitchen, led by a chef whose name is not disclosed on the website, focuses on hyper-local ingredients. Herbs and edible flowers come from the restaurant’s own garden, and the menu changes with the season. The chef’s “unusual combinations” are described as gently challenging the palate – a hallmark of modern cuisine that prizes originality without losing sight of pleasure. A wine list of more than 200 references complements the food.
During summer, the restaurant holds four special evenings centred on spit-roasted lamb, a generous, seasonal affair that encourages sharing.
La Table du Marensin has been recognised by the Michelin Guide (Recommended) and by Gault & Millau. It is also a member of the Collège Culinaire de France, a network committed to local, cooperative gastronomy. This modern cuisine, driven by passion and a strong sense of place, has earned its place among the region’s notable tables.
