The story
In the heart of Saint-Lô, Intuition is the expression of Chef Mickaël Marion’s deep connection to the land. The restaurant, awarded a Michelin star for high-quality cooking, offers a modern cuisine that is both generous and honest.
Mickaël Marion spent his childhood holidays on his grandparents’ farm, learning the value of good ingredients and animal welfare. He trained in starred houses such as the Maisons de Bricourt with Olivier Roellinger in Cancale, then opened his first restaurant in Coutances. There he earned a Bib Gourmand, was named Jeune Talent by Gault&Millau, and was inducted as a Disciple d’Escoffier. Back in his native Saint-Lô, with his wife Estelle, he took on the double challenge of running the brasserie Les Capucines and the restaurant Intuition.
“Cooking is above all a matter of heart and intuition, practiced with honesty, humility, and generosity,” says the chef. His kitchen is driven by freshness and a short circuit between origin and plate. The menu is improvised daily based on what is available – local, seasonal produce that showcases Normandy’s terroir. Mickaël is a fervent defender of traceability and short supply chains.
Each week, he forages wild plants and flowers in the Marais du Cotentin park: elderflower, woodruff, oxalis, yarrow, wild garlic. Used raw, these botanicals bring unexpected harmonies to his plates, resulting in a modern cuisine that is fresh and unique.
Intuition serves lunch and dinner from Thursday to Saturday. The Découverte menu (starter, main, dessert at 52 €) and the Instant menu (four courses at 71 € or seven courses at 105 €) reflect the chef’s instinctive approach. The dining room is upstairs – note that it is not accessible to persons with reduced mobility. Parking is easy nearby. Intuition invites guests to share a genuine moment of pleasure and connection to the land.
