The story
At the foot of the Pont du Diable in the village of Olargues, Fleurs d'Olargues offers a dining experience shaped by two generations of a Danish-owned family. The restaurant’s kitchen team works with the finest produce from an area extraordinarily rich in natural harvest. Local cherries and apricots, among the finest in southern Europe, feature alongside marrons from Olargues that have earned their own AOC designation. Virgin olive oil comes from a local producer whose small, high-quality output is so prized the chef is reluctant to name him. Succulent beef arrives from river pastures further up the valley.
The cuisine is a refined expression of modern cuisine, rooted in the seasons of the Languedoc. Presentation is artistically conceived, each plate a careful arrangement that guests are sometimes reluctant to disturb—though, as the restaurant notes, more basic instincts generally prevail. The menu offers several paths: a Lunch Menu of starter, main course and dessert; a Menu Gourmand that begins with a mise en bouche; a Cheese Menu Gourmand; and a Menu Complet that includes both dessert and a cheese platter. A children’s menu is also available.
The setting is a significant part of the experience. The restaurant overlooks the river and the old bridge, and in warmer months the terrace offers a sunset ambiance by the water. Guests describe the atmosphere as comfortable and spacious, with service and surroundings that are top class. The family behind Fleurs d'Olargues has created a place that feels both personal and refined, earning it a Michelin Recommended award for its consistent quality and warm hospitality.
Whether for lunch or dinner, the restaurant’s commitment to using the best of what the region offers, combined with its distinctive Danish perspective, makes it a destination in one of France’s most beautiful villages.
