The story
At the edge of the Haute-Vallée de Chevreuse, in the old village of Voisins-le-Bretonneux, La Ferme de Voisins occupies a restaurant that feels both spacious and welcoming. In winter, a grand central fireplace warms the room; come spring, the flower-filled terrace invites al fresco dining. The location, close to Versailles and the historic sites of Port-Royal and Dampierre, places the restaurant in a region rich in cultural heritage.
Romain Gicquel has been at the helm of La Ferme de Voisins since he was 24 years old. A passionate cook from childhood, he began his formal training at the renowned TECOMAH school and quickly took on responsibility for sourcing fresh produce at the market in Versailles. His early career included a four-year stint as chef de partie at Cartier’s Club de Direction and a role at Ladurée, before the previous owner asked him to take over the establishment. Today, Gicquel is an active member of the Maîtres Cuisiniers de France, serving on its executive committee and helping to promote French culinary arts internationally. In 2019, he was awarded the Médaille de Vermeil de Paris.
The restaurant’s modern cuisine is built on a foundation of rigorous product selection and technical skill. The menu changes with the seasons, offering finely executed dishes that balance authenticity with refinement. A dish of seared scallops with bone marrow and wakame sablé, captured in the restaurant’s photo gallery, hints at the kitchen’s precision and creativity. Desserts, described as the high point of a meal, receive particular care.
La Ferme de Voisins has been recognized by the Michelin guide with a Recommended distinction in 2026, reflecting the consistency and quality of Gicquel’s cooking. The restaurant also hosts regular jazz evenings, adding a lively note to the dining experience. Whether for lunch or dinner, the combination of a warm, elegant setting and a deeply personal culinary vision makes this a destination for those seeking modern cuisine in the Yvelines region.
