The story
In Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, at the heart of the Alpilles, Fanny Rey and Jonathan Wahid run a restaurant that feels both personal and precise. Theirs is a story of a couple who met in the kitchens of the Ritz in Paris—she in cuisine, he in pastry—and who, after eight years there and a stint at the legendary Oustau de Baumanière, decided to build their own house. In July 2012, that dream became L'Auberge de Saint-Rémy.
The restaurant occupies a stone building that is a classified historical monument, set back from the bustle of the village. The atmosphere is one of calm, authentic Provençal charm. Fanny Rey and Jonathan Wahid are chef-owners, and they describe the place as an "écrin" (a jewel box) shaped by their hands and those of their team. The cooking here is modern cuisine, rooted in the region’s produce and the duo’s shared experience.
The recognition came steadily. A first Michelin star arrived in 2017, and in 2025, the restaurant was awarded a second star for "excellent cooking." That same year, Fanny Rey was decorated with the Légion d’honneur. These accolades reflect the consistency and ambition of a kitchen that has been evolving together for over two decades.
The restaurant is open for dinner from Tuesday to Saturday, and for lunch from Thursday to Saturday. There is a terrace where pets are welcome, and the dining room is air-conditioned. The wine list is interesting, and the restaurant can accommodate private parties and events. This is a place where the warmth of Provence meets the discipline of a two-star kitchen, and where the couple’s long partnership is evident in every detail.
