The story

L'Attanum in Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche – Modern Cuisine, Michelin Recommended 2026

Since 2019, L’Attanum has been a fixture on the Place de la Nation in Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche, Haute-Vienne. What began in the historic centre moved for its third anniversary into the former sub-prefecture, a 19th-century building now home to a restaurant with clean, contemporary lines and a warm, relaxed atmosphere. The dining room uses shades of blue to evoke calm, and the walls are animated by the bold paintings, drawings and totems of artist Patrick Lasthère.

Behind the stove is chef Ludwik, who has been cooking since he was 16. He trained in rigorous, Michelin-starred kitchens—including the Château de Dampierre—and worked as a second or head chef at houses like La Tour in Sancerre, L’Opidom in Fondettes and L’Imaginaire in Terrasson-la-Villedieu. After two decades of experience, his cooking is confident, unfussy and generous. He describes it as simple, savoury and unpretentious, born from the skills acquired in refined kitchens but driven by the desire to welcome guests “as if at home,” with professional service.

The menu changes every week, shaped entirely by what local producers are offering. L’Attanum works with a network of suppliers from the surrounding Haute-Vienne, Dordogne and Corrèze: market gardeners, cheesemakers, bakers, a fishmonger from Limoges and a brewery from Hautefort. A recent set menu might begin with a perfect egg, potato cream and mushrooms, followed by seasonal fish with a potato risotto and curry, and end with a brioche perdue, salted butter caramel and vanilla ice cream. A carefully chosen wine list, selected by Claire—Ludwik’s wife and the restaurant’s maître d’hôtel—features owner-producer bottles served by the glass or bottle, with prices ranging from €25 to €360.

This commitment to seasonal, locally-driven modern cuisine has not gone unnoticed. L’Attanum has been selected by the Michelin Guide for the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, an acknowledgment of the quiet, consistent quality the team delivers. The restaurant is accessible to wheelchair users, offers outdoor seating and welcomes dogs.
