The story

Bistrot de Port-Lesney – Port-Lesney, France – Michelin Recommended French Bistro

A Guinguette on the Square

On the Place du 8-Mai-1945 in Port-Lesney, five hundred metres from the Château de Germigney, the Bistrot de Port-Lesney greets guests with red shutters, a terrace shaded by a remarkable tulip tree, and a long trellis where Virginia creeper climbs gracefully. Inside, a restored English apothecary cabinet serves as a buffet, library shelves hold curiosities and travel souvenirs, and a wooden-and-marble bar lines up bottles and flasks. The atmosphere is relaxed and warm, a true guinguette spirit – the sort of place where checkered tablecloths and a hand-written slate menu set the tone. At night, string lights under the trellis make it feel festive and convivial.

A Gourmand, Seasonal Cuisine

The chef works in harmony with the seasons, favouring fresh, local produce from short supply chains. The result is generous, shareable cooking – traditional with a contemporary note. Look for dishes like côtes de cochon with morilles, river fish fritures, and the Comté of the region, all treated with a touch of creativity. One secret the bistro shares: the Paris-Brest "à notre façon", designed to be shared by two. The Michelin Guide has recognized this address with a Recommended distinction, noting the quality of its honest, flavour-driven French cooking.

A Place to Linger

Open daily except Wednesday and Thursday (with summer hours adding those days), the Bistrot de Port-Lesney invites you to settle in, whether on the terrace or in the cosy, character-filled dining room. It’s a place where the simple pleasure of eating well meets the charm of the Jura countryside – and where the village square becomes a tableau of everyday life, good food, and genuine hospitality.
