The story
For five generations, the Schneider family has cultivated the art of hospitality at Auberge Saint-Walfrid in Sarreguemines. The property, a former outbuilding of the monks’ priory of the Abbaye de Tholey, now houses a top-of-the-range hotel, spa, and a Michelin-starred gourmet restaurant. Surrounded by greenery on the banks of the Sarre River, the inn offers an authentic, elegant, and refined atmosphere.
At the heart of the gastronomic experience is Chef Stephan Schneider, a Maître Cuisinier de France. His kitchen is committed to regional values and a deep respect for produce and nature. The cuisine at Auberge Saint-Walfrid is a reinvention of regional gastronomy, blending tradition with modernity. Diners can sample his culinary creations in one of the two dining rooms, which are carefully decorated to showcase collections of Sarreguemines earthenware and Saint Louis crystal. This classic cuisine has earned the restaurant a Michelin star, a recognition that speaks to the high quality of cooking and the dynamism of the entire team.
The restaurant is part of a larger estate that includes 22 charming, spacious, and bright rooms and suites, as well as a new wellness area with a swimming pool, bubble spa, sauna, and hammam reserved for hotel guests. Whether you are a gourmet seeking to satisfy your taste buds or a traveler looking for a haven of peace, the Auberge Saint-Walfrid is designed to offer a quality experience in tune with the times. The restaurant is closed Sunday evening, all day Monday, and Tuesday noon.
