The story
La Capitelle sits in the heart of Mirmande, a village listed among the most beautiful in France. This three-star hotel was once the home of painter André Lhote, and its elevated terrace commands views over the Monts d’Ardèche and the Rhône Valley. Today, Ludivine and Sylvain Croce welcome guests year-round to this corner of the Drôme, where the atmosphere is both idyllic and unhurried.
Sylvain Croce’s cooking is the draw here. The kitchen turns out a Menu du Marché and an Ardoise – both driven by what’s fresh and seasonal. The restaurant is a fine dining destination, recognised with a Michelin recommendation, and the cooking stays rooted in the traditions of French cuisine, with a clear respect for local ingredients. Diners can eat on the terrace when the weather allows, or in the comfortable dining room.
The menu changes regularly, so there is no fixed list of dishes, but the approach is consistent: market-fresh, precise, and unpretentious. The restaurant is closed Sunday evening and all day Monday. Note that pets are not allowed in the dining room. The hotel also offers demi-pension and evening stopover packages for those who want to make a full evening of it.
