The story
Just outside Sélestat, on the Route des Vins in Scherwiller, Auberge Ramstein occupies a traditional Alsatian building where wood, stone, and contemporary touches create a setting that is both elegant and welcoming. This is a restaurant run by a family, and the warmth of that approach is felt from the moment you arrive. Guests can choose between a refined dining room and a sun-drenched terrace, both ideal for a leisurely meal.
In the kitchen, father and son work side by side. Chef Lucas, who has trained in several notable houses, now brings his experience back to the family inn, reinterpreting the flavours of Alsace with creativity and respect. The cuisine is rooted in the terroir and the seasons, making use of local produce and the region’s excellent wines. Dishes such as the filet mignon de veau aux morilles or the caille des Vosges farcie aux morilles exemplify this approach – generous, authentic, and precisely executed.
The Michelin guide, which has recommended Auberge Ramstein, praises the restaurant’s “bon esprit” and its personalised take on regional cooking, highlighting the Lerchenbuehl menu for its interesting plates. The Logis guides and Gault&Millau also recognise the establishment, noting the quality of the ingredients and the skilful, gourmet preparations. The wine list is particularly strong, with a deep selection of Alsatian bottles that complement the menu perfectly.
Auberge Ramstein is open for dinner from Tuesday to Saturday (last orders at 20:15), with lunch service on Thursday and Friday, and a special Sunday lunch menu from November to June. Whether you are exploring the wine route or seeking a memorable meal, this is a place where tradition and family hospitality remain at the heart of the experience.
