The story
Le Patio by Lou Caléou occupies a former wine cellar just steps from the centre of Sommières. The renovation preserved the mineral character of the space, centred on a large wrought-iron and glass arch. In warmer months, the patio opens for outdoor seating, offering a light and airy contrast to the stone-walled interior. Air conditioning and wheelchair access make the restaurant comfortable year-round.
Chef Guillaume Dercourt and chef Amandine lead the kitchen, focusing on modern cuisine built around fresh, seasonal produce. The restaurant’s farm-to-table approach is evident in menus that change with the market. The Bib Gourmand from the Michelin Guide recognises the consistent quality and value of their cooking. In addition, Le Patio earned two toques in the Gault & Millau guide in its first year, and chef Amandine received the Gault & Millau Pastry Trophy for Occitanie in 2024.
Lunchtimes bring a formule du midi – a choice of starter, main, and dessert for 25 € – while the menu du marché and menu saveurs are available both at lunch and dinner. For a more adventurous evening, the surprise tasting menu (70 €, served only for the whole table) lets the chefs guide you through five courses. The food is described as refined and delicate, with dishes such as an opera of duck foie gras and smoked duck fillet, or roasted scallops with Jerusalem artichoke and truffle. Guests consistently praise the precision of the cooking and the balance of flavours.
