The story
Les Terrasses de Clairefontaine sits at the edge of an étang in the village of Clairefontaine-en-Yvelines, within the Vallée de Chevreuse and the forest of Rambouillet. The restaurant’s name comes from its terraces, which are especially inviting in summer, while the winter months showcase a beautiful interior dining room with a striking verrière. The setting is calm and unhurried, a place to pause and rediscover the essential.
The kitchen is led by chef Eric Voiron, whose career was shaped in some of France’s most renowned houses. He works with local producers, letting the products of the season – and the region – dictate the menu. The restaurant’s modern cuisine is built on transparency: ingredients from the Vallée de Chevreuse, bread made from local flour, butter churned in-house, and ice creams and sorbets prepared à l’instant. Owner Léon Ouazana, a passionate oenophile, ensures the wine pairings are as thoughtful as the food.
The menu evolves with the seasons – March 2026 brings a choice of dishes such as filet of Aveyron veal with artichoke and dandelion, Pornic squab with peas and carrots, or line-caught sea bass with two radishes and green lentils. A vegetarian option (gargouillou végétal) is available, and the chef is attentive to flexitarian and vegetarian diners. The tasting menus range from the 52€ Menu Affaire (served weekdays at lunch) to the seven-course Menu Dégustation Montjoie at 102€. All menus include an amuse-bouche, cheese, and mignardises.
This commitment to precise, seasonal cooking earned Les Terrasses de Clairefontaine a Michelin Recommended distinction – a fitting nod to a kitchen that balances tradition with a light, modern touch.
