The story

Spot Palace Soorts: Award-Winning Neapolitan Pizza & Casual Dining

From Truck to Hangar

Spot Palace in Soorts began in 2017 as a mobile kitchen before evolving into a permanent home for Neapolitan pizza. Le Fooding highlighted the venue upon its relocation to the Pédebert district, praising how vintage fixtures and industrial lighting complement the casual dining room. The team preserved the original street-food energy while upgrading to a dedicated wood-fired setup. Guests now gather under high ceilings to share meals that once traveled between beach towns.

Fire and Dough

The wood-fired oven operates through the evening, producing thin-crust pizza with charred edges and airy cornices. Recipes depend on precise regional imports like fior di latte, Gorgonzola DOP, and fourteen-month cured Parma ham. The Capo Mannu pairs slow-cooked tomatoes with fresh burrata and a thick balsamic reduction. Other selections highlight smoked Scamorza with confit cherry tomatoes or guanciale balanced by local chèvre and honey. Each order moves directly from the baking stone to the waiting table.

Sunlight and Shared Tables

Mornings open with specialty coffee roasted by a Toulouse micro-roastery alongside buttery pastries pulled from the oven. Lunch service swaps the wood fire for lighter California-style bowls and smash burgers resting on toasted brioche. Patrons stretch across communal benches and spill onto the shaded terrace while weekend concerts fill the air. Groups linger here long enough to debate which pizza topping earns a second slice.

This is the place to be in the Pédebert part of town! A hangar that’s been given a cool new look, combining vintage details and industrial light fixtures. It’s the brick-and-mortar version of the Beachfood adventure, which began in 2017 as a food truck, the final iteration of which is parked next door. Tested for you the day we went for lunch, chosen from the organic and locally-sourced menu: dellllicious flash-seared octopus that was achingly tender, paired with slow-roasted figs and a piquillo pepper coulis. In addition to that? Some beautiful buns: an organic potato bun (filled with smashed blonde d’Aquitaine beef, aged English cheddar, smoked bacon, caramelized and pickled onions, homemade ketchup and a touch of mustard), plus AOP chicken or veggie buns, burritos, beef tataki… Not to mention the incredible dessert, coffee tiramisu. At night, Le Spot morphs into a pizza joint, serving things like the Capo Mannu pizza, topped with organic tomatoes, fior di latte, arugula, Parma ham aged for 14 months, stracciatella and balsamic. // Gérard Roubeix
