The story
Since 1936, La Terrasse has been welcoming guests from its perch in Meyronne, a small village in the Lot department, near Souillac. Housed in a former residence of the bishops of Tulle, the restaurant combines the character of ancient stone with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Chef Jonathan Michel leads the kitchen, supported by pastry chef Marina Chanet, and together they create modern cuisine that draws deeply on the produce of the surrounding countryside.
The menu changes with the seasons, but the commitment to regional suppliers remains constant. The kitchen works with Lot lamb, free-range pork and poultry from Mayrac, duck from a local producer, Rocamadour cheese from the Michaubas farm in Meyronne, and goat cheese from the Chapelle farm in Saint-Sozy. Vegetables and fruits are sourced at their peak. The result is a cuisine that feels both contemporary and deeply connected to place.
A tasting of the “Flavour” menu might begin with a declination of heirloom tomatoes or an avocado preparation with lemon, soy, and ginger. Mains include pollock under a walnut crust with sumac-infused carrots, or Lot pig with black curry and a potato cake. The “Lords Adhémar” menu showcases foie gras, Norway lobster, guinea fowl, a cheese trilogy, and a choice of pastries. Desserts, such as the classic iced walnut soufflé, are made in-house and highlight seasonal fruit.
La Terrasse’s cooking has earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand, an award that recognises good quality at a moderate price. It’s a fitting distinction for a restaurant that serves thoughtful, ingredient-driven food without pretension – where the chef’s closeness to his producers is evident in every bite.
True to its name, La Terrasse features a panoramic terrace overlooking the Dordogne Valley. Guests can dine here in warm weather, enjoying the view of the river and the surrounding hills. The dining room, with its vaulted stone ceilings, offers a cosy alternative. The restaurant also maintains a cellar stocked with wines selected over three generations, making it easy to find a perfect pairing for any dish.
Whether you’re stopping in after visiting Rocamadour or the Gouffre de Padirac, or staying overnight at the adjoining three-star hotel, La Terrasse delivers a genuine taste of the Lot – modern, local, and memorable.
