The story
Le Pont de l'Ouysse sits at the foot of the Belcastel château in Lacave, a short drive from Souillac. The restaurant takes its name from the Ouysse stream and the old stone bridge that once crossed its turquoise waters. The atmosphere is peaceful and authentic, set within the Quercy Natural Regional Park. In 2026, this commitment to quality earned it a Michelin star, a recognition of the high cooking that has defined the house for generations.
Founded in 1884, Le Pont de l'Ouysse has been run by the Chambon family for five generations. What began as a ferryman's abode has been carefully restored into a hotel and restaurant that honours the region's identity. Since 2007, chef Stéphane Chambon and his brother Mathieu have overseen both the four-star hotel and the gastronomic restaurant, ensuring every guest experiences the best of the Dordogne.
Chef Stéphane Chambon works with the finest local produce to create refined yet authentic dishes. His cooking brings out sumptuous flavours and colours, staying true to the terroir while offering a contemporary touch. The menu changes with the seasons, and the wine list, curated by the sommelier, complements each course.
Guests can choose to dine on the terrace under the shade of ancient trees or in the spacious dining room that opens onto the surrounding nature. Both settings offer views of the valley and the river. The service is attentive and professional, yet warm. Le Pont de l'Ouysse is open from April to early November, welcoming guests for lunch and dinner.
