The story
In the heart of Vieux-Boucau, Les Têtes d'Ail describes itself as a "bistrot des amis et vins choisis" — a friends' bistro with carefully chosen wines. The name, a playful nod to garlic ("têtes d'ail"), sets the tone for a place that values good humour and genuine hospitality. Every day, the team welcomes guests to share a cuisine that is local, flavourful, spontaneous and sincere, always tied to the season. It is simple, generous cooking without fuss, designed to make you feel good.
The kitchen focuses on fresh, seasonal ingredients, turning out dishes that are both authentic and convivial. The menu is a duo effort, crafted to let the quality of the produce speak for itself. This is modern cuisine rooted in the traditions of the region, served in a relaxed, warm setting. The restaurant's commitment to this approach has earned it a Michelin Recommended distinction, a recognition of its consistent quality and sincere cooking.
Wine is a passion here. The wine list highlights independent producers from the region, the majority certified organic, biodynamic or natural. It evolves constantly, reflecting new discoveries and tastings. The aim is simple: the pleasure of sharing, exchanging and discovering. With just 25 covers, the atmosphere is intimate and personal. Reservations are taken by phone only. Note that the restaurant is currently closed due to a change of ownership; a reopening date will be announced soon.
