The story
Since December 2019, Blue Flamingo has been moored on the Presqu'île André-Malraux, a purpose-built barge constructed by the company Boathome. It is not a converted péniche but a new build, designed from scratch for this project. The result is a bright, modern dining room with large windows overlooking the water, seating up to 56 guests.
Chef Benoit leads the kitchen alongside Francky, Adrien, and Akram, supported by apprentices Léo, Léna, and Sacha. The service team – Bastien, Julian, Sarah, and apprentices Cécilia and Maxime – keeps the atmosphere warm and attentive. The entire crew of thirteen, aged 18 to 36, brings a family-like energy that the restaurant describes as “working in joy and good humour.”
The menu follows a tight, seasonal format: three starters, three mains, and three desserts, all changing every three weeks. The cooking draws on French gastronomy but adds subtle global touches, with options for meat, fish, and vegetarians. The restaurant emphasises fresh, seasonal ingredients and a strong value-for-money approach. A summer rooftop bar opens from May to September, serving tapas and cocktails from 3pm to 11pm in a setting with palm trees, colourful furniture, and 360-degree water views.
Blue Flamingo has been recommended by the Michelin Guide since 2022, a recognition it wears with pride. The team sees it as confirmation of their commitment to a convivial, high-quality dining experience on the water in Strasbourg.
