The story
La Table de Marie-Ange is the restaurant at the Chalets Hôtel de la Croix Fry, a four-star family hotel in Manigod, near Thônes in Haute-Savoie. The story begins in 1937, when Aline Burgat—known as “Mémé Karavi”—opened her table to mushroom pickers and hikers, serving generous omelettes with cèpes and chanterelles, matafans, and wild blueberry tarts. That spirit of mountain hospitality has passed through four generations of women.
Today, the restaurant is run by Isabelle and Éric, the children of Marie-Ange Veyrat, who gave the place its name. The cuisine is traditional, rooted in the products of the Savoyard terroir: local cheeses and charcuterie are the backbone of the menu. The setting is the same family chalet, decorated with the care and passion that Marie-Ange herself brought to the house. Chef Olivier Roellinger once said the chalets are “inhabited by a fairy: Marie-Ange.”
The restaurant has earned a Michelin recommendation, a recognition that feels like a natural extension of the family’s long-standing commitment to good, honest cooking in the mountains. The atmosphere is one of serenity and warmth, a place where the history of the land and the family are present in every detail.
Whether you come after a day on the slopes or a summer hike, La Table de Marie-Ange offers a taste of the Aravis that has been carefully preserved for nearly a century.
