The story
On the slopes of the Bandol appellation, overlooking the Sainte-Baume massif, La Ferme Auberge – Domaine de La Font des Pères is a wine estate where gastronomy grows from the same soil as the vines. The property, revived in 2010 by Philippe and Caroline Chauvin, is built around a 10-hectare organic vineyard. But the Chauvins, founders of Comptoir du Caviar, also set out to create a place where wine and food meet on equal footing.
Three distinct restaurants make up the dining experience. La Table de la Font des Pères is the flagship: a gastronomic interpretation of Provence, serving modern cuisine that draws on ingredients grown just metres away – fruit trees, olive groves, vegetables, herbs, eggs, and even morels. Le Bistrot offers a more relaxed, bistro-style take on the same philosophy, while Le Comptoir provides a lighter, more casual option. Every plate is rooted in short supply chains and the estate’s own production.
The kitchen’s commitment to excellence has earned La Ferme Auberge a place in the Michelin guide, recommended for 2026. The recognition speaks to the precision of the cooking and the clarity of the flavours – dishes that reflect the sun, the sea, and the limestone-rich terroir of Bandol. Wine naturally plays a central role: the estate’s own AOP Bandol wines, known for their freshness and elegance, are paired with the menu.
Dining here is an immersive affair. The setting is an amphitheatre of terraced vineyards, with panoramic views that stretch to the coast. Meals are served on terraces that feel intimate despite the open landscape. The spirit is one of “luxe discret” – discreet luxury – where the service is sincere, the pace unhurried, and the pleasure is in the details: the scent of thyme and rosemary, the whisper of the Mistral, the taste of a perfectly ripe tomato still warm from the sun.
For those who wish to stay, the estate also offers rooms, suites, villas, and a spa carved into the hillside. But the heart of the place remains the table – where modern cuisine, born from the land, is the most direct expression of this singular Provençal domaine.
