The story
L'Hippi'curien is the project of chef Benjamin Mesbah and his partner Jaccard Dylan. Since opening in 2017, the duo has pursued a simple, generous French cuisine that respects the seasons and the South West terroir. The Michelin guide has recognized this consistent, honest cooking with a Recommended award.
The menu changes regularly, driven by market produce. At lunch, the "market return" menu highlights the freshest ingredients. Evening offerings are more elaborate, with dishes like crispy gambas with creamy carrot and orange, or seared scallops with butternut and chestnut emulsion. A recent Valentine's menu featured a filet of veal with Basque corn and roasted parsnip, followed by a chocolate and passion fruit dessert. The wine list is equally regional, curated to complement the food.
The restaurant is housed in a warm, old building near the Hippodrome de la Cépière, with a calm, shaded terrace for sunny days. Its comfortable interior and attentive service make it suitable for groups, family gatherings, or private events. The team also offers a takeaway menu, reflecting their adaptability. This is refined French cuisine without pretension – just quality and generosity on the plate.
