The story
At Une Table à Deux in the heart of Toulouse's historic Carmes district, Morgane and Nicolas have built a restaurant that feels both polished and personal. Since opening in April 2018, the duo has been serving a modern cuisine that draws on classical French rigor and the flavours they discovered during a year travelling through Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia and South Korea.
Both chefs trained at the hotel schools of Toulouse and Lourdes before refining their skills in Michelin-starred restaurants around the region. That discipline shows in the cooking: a short, seasonal menu built around fresh produce, with dishes like line-caught hake, grilled octopus, or beef with cherries and Madagascar pepper. The Asian influence appears in subtler ways—a cucumber gazpacho, a bisque of crustaceans, or a strawberry and fenugreek dessert. Everything is made in-house.
The setting matches the food. Warm brick walls and wooden furniture give the dining room an intimate, convivial feel. Benoit runs the front of house and handles the wine pairings, completing a small, focused team. Lunch menus start at a practical 29 euros for three courses; the evening expands to five or eight courses, the latter at 82 euros per person.
The restaurant holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand, an award that recognises good quality, good value cooking. It fits the place well: this is ambitious cooking without pretension, rooted in the seasons and the chefs' own curiosity.
