The story
On the quays of the Saône in Tournus, Brasserie Le Quai welcomes guests with a warm, family atmosphere. Chef Valéry Meulien, trained by the celebrated Jean Ducloux and Paul Bocuse, orchestrates a menu rooted in tradition yet open to flavours from elsewhere. His plates honour regional classics with skill and restraint.
The Michelin guide recommends the address, noting that Meulien, a former Michelin-starred chef himself, has lost none of his touch. His tête de veau, ris de veau with cream of morels, and eggs meurette in a deeply flavoured red wine sauce sprinkled with parsley are cited as standouts – dishes that speak to the chef’s command of Burgundy’s culinary heritage.
When the weather allows, the terrace offers a magnificent view of the Saône, making it a natural spot for a leisurely meal. The interior is equally welcoming, with air conditioning for warmer days and wheelchair access throughout.
Le Quai is open Tuesday to Saturday for lunch and dinner, closed Monday and Sunday. The kitchen serves from 12:00 to 1:30 PM and 7:00 to 8:30 PM. Reservations are recommended and can be made by phone. Gift cards are available for those who wish to share the experience.
