High in the French Alps, within the Relais & Châteaux hotel Les Barmes de l'Ours, La Table de l'Ours offers an experience that matches the drama of its setting. Perched on the slopes of Val-d'Isère, this restaurant is the gastronomic heart of a property named after the bear dens (Barmes) of the Tarentaise glaciers. It earned its first Michelin star in 2019, a recognition that has been reaffirmed in subsequent years, placing it among the finest dining destinations in the Alps.

Chef Antoine Gras and his brigade are the driving force, creating a modern cuisine that draws deeply from the region. The menu is a celebration of Alpine products, transformed with precision and creativity. The signature "Refuge" menu, a six-course affair, is the best introduction to the chef's vision, and can be paired with wines selected by the restaurant's skilled sommelier. An aperitif of Champagne sets the tone for an evening that balances refinement with the warm, convivial spirit of a mountain lodge.

The restaurant is one of three within the hotel, each offering a different atmosphere. While La Rôtisserie focuses on grilled meats and Le Coin Savoyard on traditional fondues, La Table de l'Ours is the place for a dedicated fine-dining experience. The setting is as considered as the food. The hotel itself is a cocoon of wood and stone, designed by the artist-cabinetmaker Christophe Mattis, and the restaurant shares this aesthetic of natural luxury and calm. After dinner, the Sofa Bar, with its shelves of books and roaring fire, provides the perfect spot for a digestif, making the entire evening a seamless journey into Alpine hospitality.
