The story
In the heart of the Gulf of Morbihan, just outside Vannes, La Chaumière de Pomper occupies a beautifully restored thatched cottage in Baden. The setting is authentic yet modern and elegant, a place where local terroir takes centre stage.
This is a crêperie, but not as you might know it. The kitchen revives an almost forgotten recipe for crêpes and galettes, focusing on a crisp, crunchy texture. From the classic complete galette to the chef’s own suggestions, each dish is built on fresh, seasonal ingredients, handled with a precise play of textures and temperatures. The menu includes signature galettes named after local characters: the Iroise with smoked salmon and lemon cream, the Belle Joséphine with sautéed mushrooms, onion confit, and roasted tomatoes, and the hearty Doux Joseph with smoked bacon, ham, two eggs, and melted Emmental. A galette with andouille de Guémené is also a highlight.
The Breton cuisine is paired with an exceptional selection of ciders and poirés — about thirty different bottles are offered, ranging from fruity and mellow to dry and structured. The dining experience is described by guests as warm, joyful, and full of original flavour combinations.
The quality and value here have earned the restaurant a Michelin Bib Gourmand, a recognition that fits naturally with the philosophy of generous, well-made food. Press mentions from Le Routard, L’Express, and L’Obs further underline its reputation.
Open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, La Chaumière de Pomper is a place where the Gulf’s beauty meets real, satisfying cooking.
