The story
La Bastide des Magnans is a stone bastide built two hundred years ago, set in the heart of the Var countryside in Vidauban. It is the realisation of chef Christian Boeuf’s childhood dream: to welcome guests and share the best ingredients of his beautiful region. The restaurant occupies the ground floor of the house, with outdoor seating sheltered by the old walls—an ideal spot for lunch or dinner under the Provence sun. Parking is available on site, and the dining room is wheelchair accessible.
The kitchen here expresses terroir with lightness and finesse. The menus change with the seasons, always built around raw, unprocessed ingredients. The Menu du Terroir offers a choice of starters such as snacké tuna with a crunchy pea tartlet, asparagus and mint, or a poached egg on a violet artichoke purée with barigoule artichoke and Parma ham. Mains might include a Mediterranean fish return with olives and saffron, julienned courgette and saffron potatoes, or a low-temperature veal fillet with morels, wild garlic pesto and spring vegetables. Cheese arrives on a plate with a small salad dressed in olive oil, and dessert swings between rhubarb in all its forms and an ode to chocolate. Three other menus—Menu des Magnans, Menu Gourmand, and La Formule—offer further journeys into Mediterranean cuisine, each with its own character.
