The story
In Bad Kreuznach, Jan Treutle and Elisabeth Stenger-Treutle run a restaurant that takes its own motto seriously: "Alles für den guten Geschmack." The Michelin guide has recognized this commitment, awarding the restaurant its Recommended distinction for the 2026 edition.
The menu at Im Gütchen is structured around three clear paths: heimatlich (homely), mediterran, and vegetarisch. Each course is offered as a choice, allowing guests to compose their own tasting journey. The homely path might start with cured Arctic salmon, trout roe, and a sour cream herb emulsion, while the Mediterranean path offers a karaage-style corn-fed chicken with rice noodle salad and mango chili chutney. Vegetarian options include a winter vegetable raw dish and a cauliflower coconut soup. A separate "weinseelig" wine pairing is available, featuring regional wines from the Nahe and Mosel.
The restaurant's atmosphere is described as "mehr als prädestiniert" for the pursuit of good taste – a setting that complements the precise, seasonal cooking.
In warmer months, the adjacent Puricelli Garten opens as a separate wine bar, serving small plates from "Jans Küche" – cheese plates, warm potato bread, nuts and dips, and whatever else Jan is inspired to prepare. The garden focuses on local wines from producers like Finkenauer, Gälweiler, and Salm zu Salm, and opens on summer evenings when the thermometer reaches 20–22°C.
Im Gütchen is a place where international and Mediterranean cuisines meet regional German ingredients, and where the kitchen’s clear, unpretentious approach has earned its place on the Michelin map.
