The story
The Historisches Gasthaus Sanct Peter in Walporzheim traces its origins back to the year 600, when the estate belonged to Frankish kings. After centuries under monastic and noble hands, it passed to the Brogsitter winemaking family in the 16th century. Today, the Brogsitter family has restored the building, preserving its historical charm while creating an elegant, modern atmosphere. The result is a welcoming setting where classic cuisine and international influences meet, paired with exceptional wines from the family’s own Weingut Brogsitter.
Within the same historic walls, guests can choose between two distinct dining experiences. The Restaurant Weinkirche is open daily, serving freshly prepared dishes made with regional and seasonal ingredients. Lunch and dinner menus offer a range of starters, mains, and desserts—from a Duett of Yellowfin Tuna to Rücken vom Salzwiesenlamm (salted-marsh lamb), all crafted with care. A lighter Vesperkarte is available in the afternoon. The restaurant’s Michelin Recommended status reflects its consistent quality and refined service.
For those seeking a more intricate experience, the Restaurant Brogsitter offers fine dining on select evenings. Here, the kitchen presents Haute Cuisine with bold flavour combinations, accompanied by perfectly matched Brogsitter wines. This gourmet restaurant has been awarded a Michelin star, adding to the property’s culinary prestige.
The kitchen’s philosophy centres on fresh, seasonal produce and regional sourcing. Dishes like the Sanct Peter Klassiker Gänseleber (foie gras with apple-kürbischutney) or the Wiener Schnitzel from finest veal rump reflect a commitment to classic techniques, while international touches—such as the Yellowfin Tuna carpaccio with coriander cream—broaden the repertoire. Whether in the vaulted Weinkirche or the sleek Brogsitter dining room, the focus remains on genuine flavour and attentive hospitality.
