The story
For over thirty years, the Heiligenstein has been a fixture in the Baden-Baden Rebland, run with warmth and a personal touch by the Beck family. Since 2015, daughter Katharina has joined her mother Barbara in the business, ensuring the same heartfelt hospitality continues into a second generation. The restaurant itself is a place where guests feel genuinely welcome, whether in the cozy interior, the separate wine tavern, or on the inviting terrace overlooking the vineyards.
In the kitchen, chef Joachim Peter and his team prepare a menu that blends regional and Mediterranean influences. The focus is on classic cuisine and seasonal ingredients, resulting in dishes that are both comforting and refined. The restaurant’s own website highlights offerings like "Neuweierer Forellenfilet on Bärlauchrisotto" and "Kalbsrückensteak with morels and asparagus" – dishes that exemplify this thoughtful, grounded approach. The kitchen serves warm meals in the evenings from Monday to Wednesday and at lunch and dinner from Friday to Sunday, with a separate afternoon menu available daily.
The wine program is a cornerstone of the Heiligenstein experience. The list features over 400 regional and international wines, including a number of rarities, earning the restaurant a reputation that extends beyond the local area. This dedication to wine, combined with the quality of the food and the friendly service, has earned the restaurant a recommendation from the Guide Michelin. The guide notes the "good comfort, particularly attractive wine list, and good value for money," as well as the inviting atmosphere of this "smart country inn." It is a place for classic, seasonal cuisine and a glass of something special – no more, no less.
