The story
Gasthof Zur schönen Aussicht in Bruckmühl serves regional Bavarian cuisine from a raised plateau between Munich and Rosenheim. The Kaltner family has managed the estate since 1637, and Georg and Nicole Kaltner now direct daily operations. The inn has operated continuously on these grounds since the eighteenth century, preserving the original timber structure while updating service standards. Local farmers maintain the surrounding pastures, supplying ingredients that travel a short distance to reach the kitchen.
The kitchen rotates its offerings throughout the year, aligning dishes with harvest cycles rather than following fixed templates. Seasonal vegetables, dairy, and meats arrive from neighboring producers who share the household’s commitment to landscape preservation. Warm meals run from noon until seven in the evening, after which the service shifts to a bread time format featuring fresh rolls and homemade spreads. This method of regional cooking keeps the menu flexible and the portions consistent.
The property received a Schlemmer Atlas ladle for its crisp autumn light and unobstructed sightlines toward the Berchtesgaden mountains. Diners frequently reserve seats on the sun terrace to watch cloud formations roll over the valley. The interior retains a quiet atmosphere that matches the pacing of rural Bavaria. An in-house confectionery bakes tarts and cakes every morning, providing a structured conclusion to the meal.
