The story
Tatjana Olifirenko founded Aljonuschka in Dresden almost ten years ago to serve authentic Russian cooking rooted in her grandmother’s pantry. She views her menu as a cultural umbrella that brings together Ukrainian, Georgian, Belarusian, and Central Asian traditions. Every dish leaves the kitchen fresh each day. After outgrowing a spot near the Kreuzkirche, she relocated to Salzgasse in 2022 to keep the daily rhythm going.
The kitchen rotates regional specialties throughout the week, though Thursday remains dedicated to Uzbek plov. Guests frequently order gratinated pelmeni or beef stroganoff served in little sauce pots. A thick tomato-based solyanka draws compliments from visitors who have tasted it in Moscow itself. The kitchen also prepares a complete set of vegan dishes alongside the meat options.
Regulars linger over meals while Tatjana shares the research behind each recipe. Tea arrives in traditional metal podstakanniki holders, typically followed by vodka to round out the evening. The Schlemmer Atlas honored this commitment to homemade Russian cuisine with its top spoon recognition for 2026. Visitors consistently return because the room maintains a quiet, unhurried pace.
