The story

Brasserie Ehrlich – French-Inflected Seasonal Dining Near Dresden | Michelin Recommended

Willkommen – bienvenue – welcome

Just outside Dresden, in the quiet village of Wurgwitz, Brasserie Ehrlich offers a retreat from the city bustle. Housed in a charming old building with warm wooden interiors and rustic stone walls, the restaurant seats twenty guests inside and another twelve on the terrace when the weather cooperates. The atmosphere is unhurried and personal — candlelight, attentive service, and a sense that you are a guest in someone’s home.

Stephan Fröhlich and his partner Nadine run the place with evident passion. They describe their team as friends who work together as hosts, and that warmth comes through. The kitchen’s style is French-inflected, seasonal, and creative — built around carefully sourced ingredients and changing menus that reflect what is at its peak.

Menus that change with the season

Brasserie Ehrlich offers two set menus from Thursday through Saturday, plus a Sunday lunch. The “Menü du Chef” might begin with a creamy goat cheese mousse with beetroot and port wine shallots, followed by a velvety turnip soup with bacon and mushroom gröstl. A crispy pork belly with pointed cabbage and black beer sauce appears as an intermediate course before a main of succulent Kikok chicken breast with root vegetables and a parsnip cream. Dessert is a chocolate fondant with red wine butter ice cream, nuts, and egg liqueur.

The “HeimatLiebe” menu takes a more regional direction: house-smoked trout with lentil vegetables and chive sauce, a croquette of braised meat with cheese dip, and a main of venison two ways from the Erzgebirge mountains, paired with redcurrants, celeriac purée, and hazelnut Brussels sprouts. A cheese trilogy with fig mustard and chutney rounds it off. Guests can add a matched wine journey to either menu, and the team is happy to accommodate allergies or dietary needs when advised at booking.

Sunday lunch is a more relaxed affair — a crisp salad or turnip soup, followed by a combination of Kikok chicken breast and roasted suckling pig shoulder with oven vegetables, semolina dumplings, and potato fritters.

A Michelin Recommended address

Brasserie Ehrlich earned a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026, a recognition that aligns with its thoughtful, ingredient-driven cooking and genuine hospitality. The restaurant also hosts regular “Genuss-Abende” (pleasure evenings) — themed tasting events that showcase seasonal specialties, guest chefs, and wine pairings.

For private celebrations, the restaurant can expand to 25 seats, and the separate “Stübli” — a rustic room with twelve seats and a terrace overlooking the valley — is available for exclusive events. The garden and terrace, lit by warm outdoor lights at sunset, add to the sense of escape.

Brasserie Ehrlich is open Thursday to Saturday from 17:30, and Sunday for lunch from 12:00. Reservations are recommended.
